Aktion Hoffnung provides Aid to Mamfe
On 6th November 2023 a massacre took place in Egbekaw - a suburb of Mamfe. Separatists opened fire on sleeping people. Houses were burnt down. Forty people were killed, and others seriously injured.
The Cameroonian civilian population continues to suffer from the war which is barely visible to the world public. The task now is to rebuild the community, and the diocese of Mamfe is receiving support from Aktion Hoffnung. The financial participation of Aktion Hoffnung together with the Catholic parish of St John, Nürtingen is enabling:
- Provision of water, food, sleeping facilities and hygiene products
- Psychological counselling and psychosocial support
- Counselling and sensitisation to gender-based violence
- Support in setting up small income-generating businesses (chicken farming)
